Bon Appetit!

I guess I just secretly want to be Julia Child today (by the way I read her book My Life in France and it was fabulous I highly recommend it). I had two dreams last night that I was cooking and then after watching too much Food Network today I just NEED to cook something yummie.

Since I'm in the cooking mood I figured I'd give a list of 10 recipes I love. Click on them to get the directions.

1. Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomatoes, great easy summer pasta salad.

2. Grilled Vegetables with Brown Rice, so yummie I've made this a few times for dinner and then brought the leftovers for lunch and the leftover were just as good as the first time a total plus, these ladies have a great blog and always have good recipes.

3. Blissini, I know I have mentioned these before but they are just fantastic. Super easy morning cocktail just combine equal parts prosecco, orange juice and pomegranate juice

4.  Strawberry Shortcake Cookies, again from the lovely ladies at We Are Not Martha, the are just so simple, more of a morning cookie/scone than a desert I found but fantastic and light.

5. Italian Baked Chicken and Pastina, a lovely change to the baked ziti, I found this recipe perfect I just added a small can of tomato sauce for a saucer ziti.

6.  Baked Penne with Roasted Vegetables, another Giada recipe this is great I make it for a party and it worked out perfectly it also has very good leftover value.

7. Greek Pasta Salad, this is a combination of a few recipes but super easy.
Combine cook penne, feta cheese, red pepper (uncooked), sun dried tomatoes, olives and Good Seasons Italian dressing.

8. Parmesan-Crusted Pork Chops, another one thanks to Giada, I am not a huge pork chop fan but cooked this way I love them!

9. Apple Cake Tatin, okay so I have haven't had the chance to make this yet, considering I just saw Ina make it today on the Barefoot Contessa, but yummie I think I'll have to make this over the weekend.

10. Black and White Angel Food Cake, another recipe I have been dying to try, the chocolate just spruces up the usual plain angel food cake.

Dear Etsy..

Dear Etsy,

How do I love you, let me count the ways.

One, because I found an amazing artist like Elloh that paint beautifully whimsical objects like these.

Two, because of this awesome milk bottle carrier, perfect as a wine rack or just to hold some Ball Mason Jars with items inside (maybe pens, markers ect. or flowers)

Three, because of this gorgeous wire metal storage basket, very nostalgic for me. In Middle School we had baskets like these for lockers (a very old school).

Four, for this great Machine Age Antique Factory Cage Light Globe, I could make this into one sweet light fixture.

Five, for this super retro Lucite Table Lamp.

Six, for this DCW which I me ntioned in a previous post. (And almost half price I can't decide if its real or not but it looks good if only I had 600 dollars lying around.)

And finally, for beautiful and unique jewelry like this.

An Interior Designers Wish List

Being in the design world as a student is one of the toughest things I have ever experienced. Everyday there is too much work to be done and not enough time to do it, but that is not the biggest kicker for me. The biggest kicker is that I constantly look at new and classic furniture, materials, etc. and I cannot afford any of it.

So here is my Wish List..

The Eames Lounge and Ottoman, Design Within Reach
Gorgeous can go anywhere in any decor and it looks just as classic as when it was first designed.

Perfect for the little corner of my room.

Fits in every decor, I have even seen this at a wedding and most recently as the chairs around Blair Waldorf's dining room table.

Eames Molded Plastic Armchair, Design Within Reach
So simple but so stylish.

CornuFe 110, Cuisinieres
In my dream kitchen this beauty will be there.

Chippendale Armchair, Johnathan Adler
I first fell in love with these babies while watching Golden Girls, yes Golden Girls, the lovely ladies have these chairs around their table in which they share cheesecake and stories of sex.

A Louis settee or chair
Perfect anywhere!

Great next to a chaise or a bathtub or anywhere.

One clawfoot tub for me to soak in..

and one for me to lounge in like Miss Holly Golightly.

So beautiful, this fabulous piece had a cameo appearance in SATC the movie, in Carrie's editor's office at Vogue.

P.S. I am aware that I have an obsession with chairs.

Style Inspiration: Two for the Road

A marvelous little movie about a couple in the south of France that non-sequentially drive down the roads of their relationship. It stars Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney who are both fantastic in it. It might just be one of my favorite Audrey movies because it just looks like they had so much fun making it and the story line is sensational.

O and did I mention the gorgeous clothes. Ms. Hepburn styled herself not by going to Givenchy as usual, but by pulling clothes straight from the racks of Paris shops to create a look very similar to that of the time for a regular "Joanne". Therefore the movie features some outrageous but inspiring outfits and accessories.

This Paco Rabanne dress is constructed from acrylic discs threaded together with thin metal chains and had earrings to match.  Although this is fabulous for Audrey I just don't think it will work for us when we attend a cocktail party so here is an outfit for today inspired by this beauty.

2. Metallic Pump, Christian Louboutin
(one luxury item seemed like a good idea for my imaginary budget)
3. Twisted strap cami, Old Navy
(can't go to a cocktail party without a cocktail ring)

Trench coat and turtleneck sweater is adorable. Very Audrey, very everyday chic. This outfit doesn't need much tweaking for today.

1. Trench Coat, Burberry
(You can't have an Audrey inspired outfit without ballet flats)
5. Ray-Ban 4118, Ray-Ban
(Again an Audrey outfit without sunnies is like a grilled cheese without the cheese)

And now some beach fashion by Joanna and Audrey. Big sunnies, conservative but sexy swimsuits, and a nice button up shirt as a cover up. I think we can all manage to look this chic.

(I love JCrew swim wear, although I have never owned one, they all seem insanely flattering sexy but conservative at the same time.)
