Signs of Chivalry

I am currently reading the book Outlander, which a friend had recommended to me. The book is about a woman who gets transported back in time to the 18th Century. It is not an amazing book so far, but it is good and it got me thinking about chivalry, and how times have changed so much. In the book chivalry was not sleeping in the same room as a woman so her honor would not be questioned, taking a beating for another woman's honor and saving her from a group of barbarians.

This has changed so much through the times, chivalry changed to opening car doors, giving a woman a coat because she was cold, etc.. Today chivalry has changed so much so that someone from the 18th century probably could not even recognize it.

In 2009 chivalry is giving up your seat on the subway, letting a woman walk in the door first, or walking someone to the subway after a date. Even these simplest things are taken for granted and I am guilty of it.

Subway by Lily Furedi

In high school my friend and I were walking to class and when we got to the classroom he held open the door for a while, being the smart ass that I am I said "Are you going to walk through that doorway or just stare at it?" he turned very politely and said "Jeez I was just trying to be polite and let you go first." I find this sad that I was so oblivious to kindness and chivalry. So ladies be thankful when a man lets you go first or offers to get your luggage of the carousel after a flight, these men are few and far between.

  1. I think chivalry is still alive and well in the South. For the most part men are really good about getting doors, giving their seat to a lady, etc.

  2. i don't think you were being oblivious to it. i just think it really isn't around as much anymore, so when someone does do something out of kindness, you don't even recognize it. also times change, now a days women no longer get beat for sleeping around, so men don't have to take a beating for their honor. but, i do think men aren't chivalrous enough now a days.

  3. chivalry died when women started trapping men for kids, started physical fights and then called the cops, claimed rape on males who didnt want to be with them, wore thongs in public, owned their own cars, 99% of sex stores catered to women, 70% of recorded stds are with women. Im not an ass.. these are all true.

today I work and pay tax.. that tax goes to some female I dont even know whos had 1 2 3 kids, and recieves a baby bonus, or mother allowance.. even women without kids are supporting through taxes women who have kids, who went to a bar, got laid.. and complain all day theres no REAL MEN LEFT in the world. These are the ones who ask is chivalry dead.

Hey as a guy Id much rather open doors and lend coats even GIVE coats to women.. then having to pay taxes for everyone out there ..... their legs.

this maybe a rude post but it is 100 % all true. If your a female reading this.. and youve just finished a hard weeks work at work.. and noticed the tax taken off.. ask yourself.. would you freely just give this money to a friend you saw at the bar with a new guy every weekend???... cause I know for a fact women are cautious very cautious where they spend their money.. and yup thats where your bucks goin.

chivalry is dead.. because women fought to KILL IT 80's up to 2012. cant pick and choose.. its DEAD.

  4. lemme rephase the above post, chivalry is only dead to those females who think its dead..... BECAUSE THEY EXPECT IT just because their female. I show chivalry to elder females. They don't automaticaly think "ya thats right im hott, hes hittin on me".. they actually LOOK AT YOU.. and say THANK YOU DEAR.. and it makes them smile.
