Favorite Spaces: Edition One

There are so many spaces in my life that I have been into and have resonated with me for years after. For the next couple of posts I'll be introducing you to some of my favorites.

The first is the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston, MA. This museum is highly unique. Ms. Gardner was one of the foremost art patrons of her time to traveled extensively collecting antiques and art work. Her home in Boston was filled with beautiful antiques and pieces of art, in 1924 her home became a museum, making sure, under contract that her collection remained intact.

Featured in the museum is a central courtyard which is beautiful manicured and changed for the seasons. The museum transports you to a different time of style and glamour. They even host after hour cocktail parties, which I hope to attend..soon.

I've been to the museum so many times but I still love the balconies looking into the courtyard and the beautiful antiques. The architecture is just to die for and it instantly became one of my favorite places, it is a source of inspiration every time I revisit. It is such an unique experience to be able to look at masterpieces without being in a stuffy museum with a million school children.

Graduation Garb

Although I am stressed to the max right now with work on my thesis project there is one little thing that makes me happy. Online browsing for a graduation dress, even though its two months away.

I already have these great gold t-strap sandals I got at Ann Taylor Loft at the end of the season last year for 15 dollars! They kind of look like this but not as high.

The first dress I had my sights set on was this fabulous flowered dress from JCrew, I already tried it on and it looks great on me which is a plus (as I haven't tried on any of the others), but the dress is a little pricey for what it is. I'm hoping it goes on sale, or one of these other fabulous dresses might end up being the final choice.

Second up is this ruffled pretty in pink number from Arden B. We all know how much I love RUFFLES so this is becoming a front runner, but I have not tried it on so I'm try to decide whether to order it or not, or possibly trying to find it in store. I just think this will look perfect with the gold sandals and some fabulous gold jewelry. The problem is that it is that the graduation is in May in Boston right by the water so I might be a tad too chilly and a sweater probably won't look good with this.

Third is this perfect convertible dress from Victoria's Secret, it one of those fabulous dress that you can wear a million of different ways. I have always wanted one of these dress I heard they work well on many body shapes and I'm pretty sure I'll wear it tons of time during the summer with a pair of flip flops. I'm not sure if this is "the" graduation dress but I do think I might have to buy it.

Forth is this nautical inspired dress from Bloomingdale's. Again I think this would go perfectly with my gold sandals and I'm pretty sure I could get a cardi to go with it and have it still look chic, maybe with a belt a la Mrs. Obama.

Finally is this chic Soo Lee wrap dress, I love this so much it hurts, but it is sold out. I think it would just go perfect with the shoes and it is just screaming out at me to buy it, if only I could. If anyone knows where I could find this, please please pretty please with sugar on top let me know.

So lovely's what dress do you think screams me and graduation?

Perfectly Beautiful: Broken Embraces

Thanks to the blessing that is Spring Break, I have been lounging around this week and watching movies and Mad Men. As amazing as it would have been to be somewhere warm and sunny, I have to say this is just as fabulous in my overtired mind.

Today I finally got to see Pedro Almodovar's Broken Embraces (Los abrazos rotos). I had never seen one of Almodovar's movies, but I have always wanted to, for I heard mumblings of greatness.

Those mumblings should have been shouts and screams. Broken Embraces was a perfectly beautiful film. Each screen shot is one to be framed, each performance to be admired and cherished.

Once upon a time I wasn't a huge fan of Penelope Cruz, I really can't remember why, but I have been adoring her since she won her Oscar and I got to see more of her. The films I have seen of her's are just wonderful and her performance is always powerful, memorable, and her facial expressions are just perfect.

Broken Embraces tells the story of blind writer, Henry Caine and his journey to heal his wounds from 14 years ago. The story is moving, romantic and heartbreaking. The beauty will stay with you as will the characters.

Oscar Favorites

The Academy Awards is something I look forward to every year. I wait impatiently and try to watch all the movies nominated. This year I didn't get a chance to see most of the movies, maybe thats why it didn't seem as exciting as usual or maybe it's just because I could guess most of the winners or maybe there were too few gorgeous dresses. Thankfully some got it right. Here are my favorites from last night.

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab
The watercolor effect on this dress is to die for.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten
What a wonderfully refreshing dress so different but so glamorous!

Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta
Cameron has been looking amazing this awards season I loved the red dress she wore to the Golden Globes and this dress is just magical.

Meryl Streep in Chris March
Such understated elegance, perfect look and I love the shoes.

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy
If I was to die today I would want to be buried in this, not sure if I love it on her but I just love it!

Queen Latifah
Such a figure flattering and lovely gown.

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa
Perfection the dress, the hair, the red lip! (Kind of wish I could see what was underneath her hair though, it may have look good up as well.)

Who were your favorites?

Climbing to Paradise

I have always been in love with tree houses, which is probably why I designed a house around one my sophomore year. The idea of climbing up to a sanctuary of sorts, away from the chaos of the world and in the trees where you can look down at the world.
